- Is this a proven product, or are we the test case?
- We're early. Storymark is in pilot stage, and we're working with a small number of early partners to prove it out in real conditions before wider availability. If you become a pilot partner, you're helping shape the product, not buying something off a shelf.
- How much does it cost?
- Storymark is a one-time hardware purchase, plus a subscription for the content management system (CMS) billed per tenant1. There are two subscription tiers: a base tier for publishing your own content, and a premium tier that adds automated translation and audio generation. We're finalizing pricing now. Request the pilot guide and we'll walk you through it.
- What can we show on the kiosks?
- Pages you can turn, plus audio if you publish it. No video, and no animation. Storymark is minimal on purpose. The point is the story, not the screen. We add to the outdoors. We don't compete with it.
- Is the kiosk accessible to visitors with disabilities?
- Yes. Every kiosk ships with physical buttons, tactile and Braille labels, audio playback, and translations, on every tier. If you bring your own translations or audio, we'll help you keep them accessible. Or let Storymark generate audio and translations for you on the premium tier.
- Do we need our own translations or audio recordings?
- No. Bring your own audio and translations on either tier, or let Storymark generate them for you on premium.
- Does it need a power hookup?
- No. Storymark runs on solar power and a battery, so there's no trenching, no electrician, and no monthly power bill for the kiosk itself.
- What if we don't have Wi-Fi?
- Visitors don't need a connection to interact with a story. For updates, the kiosk uses Wi-Fi when it's available, and cellular when it isn't. If a phone can get a signal there, you can put a kiosk there.
- Can it handle real outdoor conditions: weather, temperature, wear?
- Yes. The display, housing, and electronics are built for outdoor use year-round, including freezing temperatures. There's no touchscreen or video panel to fail in direct sun or rough weather.
- What about tampering or vandalism?
- It's meant to sit outside on its own. Commercial-grade stainless steel protects the electronics, and the screen is behind tamper-resistant glass instead of a touchscreen. It's serviced from a secured side or rear, and the post bolts down with a cover over the base.
- We manage multiple sites. How does billing work?
- 1Each location is a tenant on the organization's one subscription. You are charged per tenant, not per kiosk, so several kiosks at one site stay on the same tenant. If a site has no Wi-Fi, cellular is a separate monthly fee. Nearby kiosks can share one connection. We'll plan that with you for the site. Start with one site and add more when you're ready.
